SUB welcomes Ken Boyst to its Board of Directors!

January 1, 2007

Local businessman Ken Boyst, who was elected to SUB’s five-member Board of Directors in elections held last November, began his tenure today. Ken took over the position vacated by retiring board member George Litezenberger, who served on SUB’s board for more than a decade. Prior to his election to the board, Ken served two terms on SUB’s budget committee, gaining valuable experience and understanding regarding utility operations and issues.

Ken and his wife Sandra have two young children, and have been Springfield residents since moving here in 1997. He has been in the title and escrow business for 15 years, and is currently the general manager of Evergreen Land Title. He also serves on the board of the Southern Willamette Valley Chapter of the Oregon Association of Mortgage Professionals.

"Public service has always been part of my life, so being involved with public power just makes sense," says Ken, who spend six years in the Marine Corps Reserves while attending college at Lane Community College and Oregon State University. "Customer-owned utilities like SUB deliver great value and quality to our community, but they also face serious challenges over the coming years. I want to do whatever I can to ensure we successfully navigate the many issues before us."

SUB board members are elected to four-year terms and serve at large and without pay. SUB’s water and electricity services are provided under the direction of these Springfield citizens, who meet on the second Wednesday of each month at regular board meetings. The public is invited and encouraged to attend these meetings, at which SUB policies and procedures are formulated and adopted.
